In the late 80's when the C4 Corvettes ran in BS (before SS), Jerry Green
from So-Cal had Monroe-Matics on his '86 C4. He and his son, Jerry Jr., ran
the car. We (I) ran what we thought was the hot set-up, Bilstein large
diameter "lime Rock" (or some other race track name which later became stock
#s AK1030 and AK 1031) valving developed for the Escort sponsored Road
Racing series.

Jr. was always fast but, in one Divisional, at the Lion Country Safari lot
in Irvine, where a lot of So-Cal events were run, their car killed us on one
course which had a big sweeper over a washboard surface. The softer Monroes
allowed rear "hook-up and the Bilsteins just bounced across the tops of the
washboard. Monroes got the power down that day so, I guess they weren't all
bad. BTW, Jr. was also fastest on a "no-excuses" course the next day and
easily won the event.

        Don

P.S. The last time I "noticed", Jerry Jr., along with a bunch of other
drivers, WMA (beat me bad) at the '03 SD Tour.
