Unfortunately there is no inexpensive way to purchase the right equipment to
do an accurate corner weight setup. Bathroom scales are not accurate enough
to use as corner weight scales. The setup has to be perfectly level. If one
corner is off by 1/8" on a 3000lb car the corner weights will be off by
approx 100lbs. For example, that 1/8" is too high on the L/R and it will
increase the weight by 25 lbs and increase that same amount on the R/F. So,
it will decrease 50 pounds from the L/F and the R/R ='s 100lbs. Also, every
time you change the camber it changes the corner weights, because the tire
contact patch has moved. On my Europa a 1/2deg camber charge at the rear
will change the corner weights by 60lbs. Alignments and corner weights
should be setup at the same time.
It only costs $75 to have the corner weight setup on most cars.
