First, I want to thank everyone for their generous transportation offers. I
think I've found a ride to Topeka, and the details will be nailed after this
weekend. I just cannot thank everyone enough! This entry to nationals was just
totally spur of the moment, and I'm a little bit giddy because I get to drive
such a wonderful car now owned by Peter Raymond. This same car won the class
last year. Peter is a multi-national champ with quite a reputation for
developing cars, both in stock and in modified. Just ask Josh Sirota. I am very
lucky.
As for feeling pressure to be the second woman to win, well, there really is
none. That's not a race, and if there was one, it went to Shauna Marinus. And
if there is one today, you people need to open your eyes to all the talented
women drivers there are running in the Open class. You're selling them short if
you think I have a chance before they do, although your vote of confidence is
indeed flattering! Anyway, it's not my race.
All I feel is my regular personal pressure to do the best I can in a car
completely foreign to me at the national championships, nothing new really, but
this time without having autocrossed since April. Oh yeah, bring it on. I think
that I will have fun.
Plus, this year, the DM field this year is REALLY strong, with three Del Long
cars, I believe, and then the Red Star Racing contingent from San Francisco. I
hope they turn some heads!
I am so thankful that I've healed, and that people are so kind, and that I get
to play in a Lotus. Playing, I think that's what this is all about.
