There is some question as to whether this is really true. The Mfg install
the embossed letering on the mold but it appears there's no government
involvement in determining if an individual tire does, indeed, meet what
ever spec to which they are referring.
In addition, Tire Rack is stating there may be testing in the future and
they may have to raise prices accordingly.
The tire business is complex and most mfg will go to great steps to
stab their competitors.
