That raises an interesting question -- do you really need a pyrometer?

If the temps are off, will it be enough to feel with your hand? I'm
imagining touch the outside, touch the middle, touch the inside. If the
temps are off enough to notice, will you feel it? Or will they only be
off a degree or two in which case you can't feel the difference?

20 degrees sounds like a LOT. I think that would be detectable by hand.
Will they really be that far off?
