Hear, hear. Good grief, people. This isn't life and death, it isn't anyone'
s livlihood. Sheesh. Rules should exist where they help us all enjoy our
*hobby*, and that's it.
If the SCCA SFR ever so looses sight of the purpose of the sport that you
can't even ride with someone (a novice, a friend, a guy you just met with
a Ferarri, whatever!) then I will find another group to autox with.
(Fortunately, as a group we don't seem this out-of-touch yet). I can
understand a competition-focused event, but only as the exception to the
rule -- nationals, for example.
If people's insistence on riding starts to slow down the events (thus
costing us all *driving* time), then we shall have to harass the offenders.
Until then, we are all giving up our sundays *voluntarily*, with the
expectation that we will have *fun*.
