Shipping an engine

There's a possibility I might need to have an engine/transmission
transported from the LA area to the Bay Area.  I was wondering if anyone had
any ideas on what the best way would be to do this, assuming everything is
already crated and ready to go.  I have no idea what kind of freight company
to contact or how much I might expect to pay for something like this.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
