Sears Point is in the process of putting in a new drag strip and making
other significant changes to the track. The turn 10-11 area cannot be used
for racing for a while.
So the SCCA Regional/National road race on August 24-25 will be run on a
modified track. Start/Finish will be between turns 6A and 7. Timing and
Scoring cannot use the automated transponder system, and paddock, grid and
track on/off won't be in their normal places.
This means the road race workers can use any help they can get over this
three-day race weekend. If you've got any free time that weekend (there is,
of course, the last SFR series autocross on Sunday, Aug. 26), consider
putting in a day at Sears as a worker. It's sure to be interesting. Free
lunch and camping as usual.
You can check the worker page on sfrscca.org, but registration should be
7-10 a.m. Friday and Saturday at the gate. Racing generally from 8 a.m. to 5
p.m. with a guaranteed lunch break.
