Tony Colicchio of Berkeley , California will be making his professional
racing
debut by racing in the STAR Mazda Series at Laguna Seca this September
7-9th. The STAR Mazda Series will be racing in conjunction with the
American
LeMans Series (ALMS) as a support race. Tony will be racing for a newly
formed team, JZ Racing. "We're looking to make a successful entry into this
ultra competitive professional series," adds Colicchio.
At the most recent STAR Mazda race in Portland, OR. JZ Racing placed 5th and
12th with their two team cars, in a 40+ car field. "I am looking forward
to
this opportunity, this is a team that's going to impress...a totally
professional bunch. It's going to be fun!", said Colicchio, "I have a great
deal of seat time this year in the Russell Formula Mazda Racing cars, and
that has helped me adept to the more potent STAR Mazda cars."
The race format is 45min. and will take place Sunday (September 9th) just
before the ALMS race. The race will be televised on ESPN2 at a later date.
