The discount stations buy gas on the spot market,
meaning RR might have Shell one day and something else
the next. This explains why, when there is a gas
shortage (i.e. another refinery blows up) the discount
stations go as expensive as the regular places. When
there is plenty of gas to go round, the discount
places get even cheaper.

Whose tanker they use to deliver the gas, is another
question.

In rural markets, where there may be only one local
jobber, all the gas might come from one place. Your
prefence should then be based ob the size/cost of
Super big gulp's.

My only preference is for pay-at-the pump systems with
a good user interface. Some are remarkably bad.
