Today, I decided to run at GGF. And I have a rather amusing story to tell
about that.
I had originally thought about skipping GGF today and running the NASA event
at Marnia, but then I had a look at class standings in CS. It occurred to
me that if I missed the event at Golden Gate Fields and my closest
competitor attended it (that's Dennis Armstrong, btw), I would lose the
point lead. So, when Kirk put out his message looking for setup workers, I
signed up to help him (partly cuz he helped with setup at the event I
co-chaired).
Anyway, Dennis and I exchanged a few emails during the past week. Turns out
he decided to go to Marina! And, in all honesty, I probably would have gone
there as well if I hadn't committed to helping set up at GGF.
That said, it was a pretty good day, or at least I thought so. Mark gave us
a pretty nice course. The entry to the second slalom on the way back in
could really screw you up, but other than that it flowed quite nicely. I
like Mark's courses, partly because he designs them for underpowered
Japanese iron ;)
Weather at GGF was downright pleasant. I hardly needed my jacket at all,
and there was hardly a cloud in the sky.
So, how was the day for you folks that hit Marina?

Shouldn't you be protected?
