Solo Field Staff,
I had an inquiry today about the helmet rule for 2001 relative to whether
there was a Snell 2000 standard yet. I knew one was coming, but I didn't know
whether it would hit before the first of the year.
I called Snell today and found out that the 2000 standard (stickers) were
issued on October 1 and that helmets should be on the shelves very soon, if
they aren't already.
As per Section 4.3.1 of the Solo II rules, that means that the minimum
acceptable Snell rating for 2001 will be a Snell 90.
I think it is in the best interest of our members and the Regions for all of
us to spread the word on this. We will get something on the web, but we just
passed a deadline for SportsCar, so it will be a little while before it shows
up there.
Thanks for your effort in letting folks know.
H.
PS: Sort of odd or ironic that the log number for this would be # 85, the
expiring standard. Its not even a full moon.
