"PS - I thought that the per-event pre-registration was a good idea.
Whatever came of that? There's at least one region that does it.
Email is not required, since they accept - gasp! - paper mail.

As not one of our volunteer registrars wants to deal with it, we are not
going to do it. Perhaps you could join the registration crew after you
become a member. That's assuming you choose to join under what seems
onerous conditions for you. Unless one of our volunteers wants it to
happen, it won't. That's our reality.
We are a club, not a business. As a volunteer, I work to support
my fellow members. People who come and go on a whim are just not my
concern.

We know we can handle 300-car events easily. However, that's when
ALL of us take on a task and know what we're doing. At present with 30-38
new people needing to be trained at EVERY event, we just can't handle it.
And we've come to realize MANY of the new people are NEVER seen again.
They're here for a one-event joy ride. We're looking for people who want to
share the pleasure of the game, the competition, the camaradery, etc.
Hmm, that sounds like a "relationship" rather than a "one-night
stand." <G>. But that's the deal.
You're more than welcome to come and obtain a proper member app on
Oct. 1. But I'm afraid you're correct it's unlikely your card will arrive
until after Event #2, Oct 8 at Marina Airport. It's also possible, I'm
told, to log on to SCCA National web page and join that way. But I have no
idea how long that would take.
Another alternative is to call the National office in Englewood,
CO, (303) 694-7222 and ask for the membership dept. Perhaps they'll take
your plastic card number over the phone and send you a memberhsip card post
haste.
