Do You Know the Way to San Diego?

What's the best way to San Diego? I'm leaving shortly. Isn't there a way
that avoids Los Angeles, like if I turn left at Bakersfield or something?

Directions would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I stupidly made Lucy drive over this metal box on the freeway. I
thought it was cardboard. :( The SUV had no problem going over it. It ripped
a huge gash through her lower lip. It just looks terrible. I'm going to have
to replace everything, I think. Even (gasp) her TEETH.

I'm really depressed.
