Background on the recently announced 1200 entry cap for the Solo II
Nationals.
In a conversation today with the Solo Dept. office, I learned there
are 900 National entries on hand today. This despite raising the entry fee
by $10 to $90.
Last year, on the day before the final deadline, the office had
received 600 entries, and they ended up with 920 entries with 904 actually
starting.
That should explain why the cap was announced.
A key problem will be where to put everybody at the Wednesday night
awards banquet. The Topeka Arena (or whatever it's called) will be
hard-pressed to seat all in attendance.
