Big thanks to everybody who helped out at the event yesterday --
we had over 170 entrants, and with over an hour of fun runs.
It was a nice quiet end to a day that started with the assistant
airport supervisor very politely suggesting that he was gonna shut
us down. :-(

We managed to re-arrange the course and keep people slowed down
and relations with the airport seemed okay when we left. Hopefully
today they are still happy. Thanks to Peter Thana and Chris Herring
going the extra mile to clean up trash around the site before we
left (that's the other big airport hot-point). Thanks to everyone
for keeping their speed down on the taxi-way!

While I stood up and gave the worker meeting, and handed out work
assignments as co-chair, the chief honcho was Ben Martinez, chairing
his ninth event of the season(!). He was responsible for the fast,
fun course, setup, getting the timers working when the wires were
giving us a hard time, etc.

It couldn't have happened without the bazillions of folks who (as always)
just quietly stepped up and helped out. Chris Cox wound up hooking
up a soldering iron to the generator and resplicing some of the cables,
and then, with Boris Elpiner, sorted out the scary tangle of strange
data cables that drive the digital displays. Lots of folks volunteered
to work an extra stint in the trailer or help out in some other way --
none of these events could happen without those folks who step up to
do more than they have to!

We had a whole bunch of folks who came out early to help out, including:
Steven Sherwood, Corey Smith, Sharon Levy, Dave Rowney, Wilhelmina White,
Don Ebaugh, Peter Thana, Russ Bowlus, Au Nguyen, Durk Edwards, Kristi
Soo Hoo, Chris Cox, Pilar Miranda, and Sean Tompkins. (Those are just
the folks with whom I exchanged e-mail, it certainly seeemed like plenty
of other folks showed up as well, and it sure helped!)

Seldom mentioned, but also important, are the folks who stayed around
at the end to help load up the RV, including the ubiquitous Jim Ochi,
Vernon Head, Chris Herring, and Peter Thana.

Thanks to John Kelley for arranging the guard at the gate and the
food vendor.

Apologies to the legions of folks who I've failed to call out by name!
