Thanks a million to everybody for all of the good advice about
tire selection and driving techniques for Oakland! The Kuhmos
were, as many of you suggested, simply amazing after all of
those events on street tires. I felt like there was still plenty
of stick that I wasn't using successfully...
Special thanks to Rich Urschel, who really came through --
he walked the course with me, then rode along, too! He really
got me to slow down enough for the tight corners, so that I
got out of 'em fast enough. I found myself speeding up enormously;
I gained about two seconds total on my fellow B Stock drivers.
As an aside, for rookies -- there is a sign-up sheet at the
registration table to help you hook up with instructors.
At todays event, we had five drivers sign up to instruct,
and only four students requested instruction. Here's your chance
to have some of the fastest autox drivers in the region, if not
the nation, spend an hour or so working to make *you* faster.
