De Anza runs pretty much the same course year after year. It is a parking
lot, pretty flat. Not very fast, fairly tight. almost no straights. Mod cars
do work, Barry Goldine always sets FTD when he runs. The best part is the
large crowd of spectators. If the weather is hot, as forecast this weekend,
spectating the spectators is almost as good as watching the cars run. You
need to be there early to enter (Cupertino at 7:00 AM), but you can tech till
noon or so. Many people arrive, get their entry in hand, then go to a
leisurely breakfast and return to tech and wait to run, while watching some
of the strangest cars you'll ever see. - Seth Emerson
