In response to John Kelly's rather limited facts
regarding this event:
The event is a fund raiser for the college autoshop;
It is 32 years old, held every year for 32 years!
Costs $14, one run per participant, ALL Proceeds buy
an education (instead of a motorhome), Awards are
fancy 8' x 10" laser engraved wooden plaque trophies
awarded by class, Mostly honors All the crazy SCCA
classes, same system we use for NASA (i.e. if they
come we will build it, forget the goofy no one cares
classes), Maybe this works out to about 3 to 5 years
"behind", don't need to make trophies for nonexisting
minitrucks that way! Trophies are given at the end of
the day and many go unclaimed, seems folks are unaware
that autocross used to award trophies in the bad old
days....
Is limited to the first 275 in line.
ALL the course work is done by the college kids, you
get to sit on your rump like you're a Porsche owner at
a ProSolo!
The awkward tech and run order is far different from
the "new SCCA" way but it still works for most of us,
at least once a year.
Results come out as in usual fashion less the PAX crap
in about a month to all that bother to fill out and
deposit their SA envelope at the beginning of the day
as instructed. Those who expect someone to address
said envelope for them never see the results.
Yes, every year folks are turned away after ONLY 275
entries are sold, but the neighbors are very tight
about the start and stop time issues and 275 is all
that they can fit into the day. And only once a year,
don't even hope otherwise.... Great location, small
slippery lot, same course from year to year.
I find it amusing John and I have traded places and he
is for the new way and I am defending the old, You
rascal John!
Fun is the game, "serious" stays home.
There IS another way to autocross folks!
