Radar detectors are quite legal in California. He can't cite you for it. If
he is already giving you a ticket for speeding and no front plate, I would
have refused to open the hood for him, or, at least, argued with him about
it. If there was a chance of a warning, I would have played along. Remember,
at 55 in a 40 zone he had you by the short hairs. You pissed him off, for
some reason? Like he's going to know what your intake is, whether it is
50-state approved. - My method for avoiding these kind of tickets (while
driving a RED Sporty Car Camaro) is to drive "like I didn't steal it" <grin>,
and enjoy my racing at the track. I regress once in a while, like when Barry
Goldine tried to drop inside me on a 2-lane freeway cloverleaf in a Honda.
Okay, 80 in third might have been excessive. As you noted, the cop could have
caught you really using the car! -
Oh Yes - My Passport detector in my SHO has saved my butt and my daughters,
several times!
