Went to Harbor Freight today to pick up one of their on-sale 40x48"
trailers for use as a tire trailer but was talked out of it by the
salesperson when I mentioned that I wanted to tow long distances at
speeds over 55mph. He says that the trailers they sell now, while
they may look like the ones they sold years ago, are a lot cheaper
and can't handle sustained speeds over 55 mph and probably not 12
hours a day at that speed. Since the trailer was only $159 I tend to
believe him.
Anyone have any suggestions for a source for a trailer kit that would
take higher speeds and longer drives? Harbor Freight sells a heavier
duty trailer online that is rated for 1400 lbs (black with a diamond-
plate bed), does anyone have experience with this one?
Since I have to drive long distances to out of town events (850 to
Wendover, 1950 to Nationals) this year I want to make sure I get a
trailer that will make it and not leave me stranded in the middle of
nowhere with no options. I'm sure there must be kits out there that
will work since I see tire trailers all the time, it's just a matter
of figuring out which are the good ones.
Thanks!
