Tire Choice

I'm autocrossing on average street tires now. I'm considering a set of 
Hoosiers, the R3 or the A3. Will my VW Golf get the R3's up to operating 
temperature on an
autocross course? The R3 compound might be a good compromise between 
performance and wear. But only if my 2,800 lbs car can get them up to temp.
