This is the e-mail I sent to Jeff Speers at Hoosier today. Thought I'd pass it
on.
Jeff -
I have to tell you how disappointed I am that the subject tire will not be
available for me to use in the upcoming SCCA National Tour Solo II event being
held on February 20,21,22 in Ft. Myers, FL. I have competed successfully for a
number of years in national solo II competition with Hoosier tires. I have won
contingency tires from Hoosier for winning National Tour events and finished
in the top 10 in the Tire Rack Solo II National Championship in Topeka, KS in
2003 on Hooier tires. I am a loyal Hoosier driver.
In early January I ordered 8 tires ($2060 worth) from Mid-Atlantic Motorsports
to be delivered to Florida. Tom told me they would be produced the first week
of February and he would have them available for the Ft. Myers National Tour.
Now I find that Hoosier has moved the production date for these tires out to
the week of February 23.
I am also told that one of the other national competitors (Jerry Onks) has a
set of the A3S04 P305/30ZR-18 tires as well as a set of the front size
P275/40ZR-17 for the event. If I want to compete in Ft. Myers, I will have have
to do so with quite well used A3S03's that frankly, will not be competitive. I
probably will not make the 1300 mile trip to Florida to compete with a set of
well worn tires.
I feel let down. I don't know what the priorities for Hoosier are, but this is
the second National Tour event and the size I need are for a very high profile
car, Z06 Corvette, and in my opinion should have been high on the list of sizes
made early in the year.
Maybe this is the time to try the new Kumho V710.
