If you think Oscoda is far removed, there is bigger, better and grippier
concrete at Kincheloe AFB in Kinross, MI, just 20 miles south of Sault Ste
Marie (the northern end of I-75, 2 hours north of Oscoda)!

This place has 2100' x 700' of pristine B-52 refueling pad concrete. The
Grissom-like fighter alert pads show the scale of the refueling pad.
GM does its winter traction control testing there and you can see the
portions they painted with white epoxy paint to keep ice on it longer in
the winter.
It was a GREAT place for autocross testing until GM consolidated all of its
winter testing there and has put paint down on 2/3 of the pad.
Sigh.
