I think we are talking about Tours and Nationals enforcement for the most
part here, just like a lot of rules discussions on this forum. Making the
rule sound all draconian because it's going to create a super in-convenience
for you at the local level doesn't make the rule a bad one. There is
already a rule about being to grid a half hour in advance...you are breaking
that rule now if I read your story right. I just don't see it effecting
regional events at all.
This isn't a big deal IMO. Don't go out tire warming just before you
run...it's a simple rule and one you should be be willing to abide by in the
spirit of our sport. You really can't blame people for thinking your tire
warming if you planned your day so you are getting gas/food/drink/whatever
just prior to running. The word "Honor" is in the phrase "Honor System".
Personally, I don't care how the rules are written, it's all the same
effect. I wouldn't event cry about the 2 driver switch, although I'm not
sure it will make much of a difference. Hell on hot days with Hoosier's,
it can even be an advantage! :)
