I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but I know of a recent lower, rear
control arm failure on a new Mini. It appeared to break at the mid-point of
it's length, right where a hole exists in the center of it's cross section.
I do NOT know what caused this, but it happened during an autocross run.
(if the owner wants to, they can chime in with real details as I did not
talk to them about what might have caused it.) It seems to me it would make
sense to mention it in the interest of safety however.
