Northwest Region:
Ron Bauer has won the highly competitive NWR/SCCA PAX class an unprecedented
three years in a row. Glenn Hernandez and Joe Goeke also win or are close.
Last year Stacey Molleker and Kevin Dietz in Z06 edged those three out in
the other regional autocross organization.
However, the NW drivers in the cars capable of much greater lateral and
forward acceleration at Topeka don't compete directly much with the small
stock car dominated PAX class...and given the total lack of concrete, mostly
small, camber challenged asphault courses, cooler and often wet weather,
it's not clear if they did since PAX wasn't designed to address those
situations. We're experimenting this year with a non-stock PAX class, but
results are mixed so far.
I wouldn't think there are many regions that regularly run on
courses/conditions representative of what occurs at Nationals.
***
Not counting the Bremerton NT where the course, surface and weather was more
like a typical NW local event than Topeka, here's the top 10 Pro and NT
PAXed performances by NWR drivers:
ProSolo National Tour
1.Bill Buetow BSP Kevin Dietz SS
2.Joe Goeke BS Bill Buetow BSP
3.LJ Moffet BSP Glen Hernandez ESP
4.Kevin Dietz SS Stacey Molleker SS
5.Stacey Molleker SS LJ Moffet BSP
6.Ron Bauer DS Joe Goeke BS
7.Alex Chiu CM Ron Bauer DS
8.Doug Hebenthal ASP Alan Dahl CS
9.Laura Molleker SS Laura Molleker SS
10.Glen Hernandez ESP Alex Chiu CM
At the Bremerton Tour, Chris Imbeau (DP), Mike Leuty (ES), Ron Babb (DM) and
Gary Milligan (AM) were in the Top 10 PAX for NWR members but haven't run at
any other NT or Pro this year. Given their performances in previous years,
it's safe to assume they will do well PAX-wise amongst the NWR drivers at
Topeka.
