But all you have to do is take the weight penalty for having an "in
excess" car (TransAm cars run or used to run 17" wheels, right?) and
you're legal. So you get a 10% penalty for aftermarket / modified too
much stock injection, plus a 10% penalty for being "in excess". Absolute
worst case that means you actually get a 15% weight penalty (max penalty
you can get, no matter what the individual penalties are). Best case, you
can argue that the injection and wheels together are "in excess" and you
only get a 10% weight penalty.
And as stated before, your car already weighs that much, so you're legal
now.
But don't let the actual rules stop you if you want to continue to feel
excluded and picked on and that CP folks hate technology.
