Team.Netters,
Here's one for all you Saturn enthusiasts on the list. My daughter brought
her 95 SL-1 with 107,K, auto trans, over this evening. She is concerned
about a high pitched whine that eminates from the engine that goes up and
down with engine RPM. I heard that sound, but I also heard a rattle that
sounds like a timing chain or a bearing going out. The sound is loudest in
the drivers rear of the engine compartment under the brake booster.
That sort of points to the tranny, but a test drive shows it shifts and
works just fine. So I'm wondering about the timing chain, and or the
bearings in the belt tensioners. Any thoughts?
In order not to clog up the list, please answer privately. Thanks guys!
Larry Steckel
