Well, the autox gods decided to cut us some slack on Sunday, though we
weren't so sure at the beginning of the day. After having to cancel
Saturday's last heat due to bad weather we intended to get an early start
with first car out at 8:00 AM Sunday morning. Just when we had everything
ready to go, we suddenly realized that the ambulance & EMT personnel required
by the site during competition weren't scheduled to arrive until 9:00 AM ....
dohhhhh! Guess I still need to polish my organizational skills a bit more.

Though dark clouds in the distance danced around us, we were blessed with dry
weather for the entire day. After Saturday's drenching nobody complained
even once about being hot & sticky today; dry was good! We managed to keep
four cars on course at all times. Despite doubling up a heat for those who
didn't run on Saturday, the equivalent of 180 drivers making 3 runs each were
motored through (running 60 second course times) within a seven period,
including a shutdown for the free Evolution lunch served up by the Gulfcoast
Autocrosser gourmet chefs. After all the adversity we faced on Saturday, it
was both an honor & privelege to watch the SEDiv competitors put forth a
total effort & complete cooperation in making Sunday's event so successful.
In particular, the Central Florida Region did an outstanding job all weekend
long and are worthy National-caliber event hosts.

Event #2 results will be posted soon on the SEDiv Solo2 website. In my haste
to get the Trophy Presentation going and everyone on their way home I forgot
to print out the Rookie Challenge results before the printer was put away.
My apology to those Rookies who were disappointed by my failure to do so.
We'll get the Rookie Results posted on the website and various e-digests as
soon as possible.

We did have a special cash awards presentation for this event; the Top Gun
Awards sponsored by both Kumho Tires & Evolution Performance Driving School.
The following drivers are the SEDiv Event #2 Kumho/Evolution Top Guns and
each received a $25 cash award for their outstanding driving performance:

Overall Top Gun - John Earnest; F125

Pax Top Gun - Steve Hoelscher; DSP

Ladies Pax Top Gun - Renee Hines; CSPL

Formula Jr Top Gun - Nick Rickert

Congratulations to our Top Guns, the class winners, and respective trophy
finishers! Don't forget, the final Event #3 of the 2002 Evolution SEDiv
Solo2 Championship Series is scheduled for July 27-28 near Savannah, GA at
the big road race track; Roebling Road. We guarantee this will be a very
special event for the participating drivers. Mark this date down on your
calendar as a must-attend Evolution SEDiv Solo2 event! Online registration
is now open for this event at our website and we hope to post the detailed
event information there soon, as well as this past weekend's Event #2
results:
