Follow Up-
As indicated below, my new wheels and tires are on the way. I've bought
2 other wheel and tire packages from The Tire Rack over the past several
years as
well as several sets of tires. Always found service and pricing to be
first rate and in this case as well the availability issue was quickly
resolved.

Rick,
I apologize for the confusion on your tire order. Let me see if I can help
out here:
I've talked to our Tire tech guys, and to one of our purchasers. Here's the
scoop: The Michelin Pilot Sport tires in the sizes you're looking for are
completely compatible with one another in the BMW and non-BMW styles. Mixing
styles is not an issue. But it gets better: Actually, the rear tires that
you have on order now are BMW-specific (they have the "star" on the
sidewall", but they don't all say this in their descriptions on the website.
So, if you call up Jake at 271 (jake@tirerack.com is the guy who placed your
initial order) he can switch you over to the "BMW" front tires (part number
24YR8SPORTBMW), and you'll be good to go. Those tires are even on special
right now, at $198 each.
I hope this puts you on the right track. I'll contact Jake, and give him a
heads-up on this. He may be calling you soon.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,
William Loring
