My advice? Stay manual. It seems to me that with my X shaped lug wrench,
I am nearly as fast as the electric folks, with half the setup time.
I have spray painted the proper lug size/end, so I don't have to think
about it. I break all 5 bolts on all four wheels before I lift the car.
Then stick the wrench on, apply a hair of force in (to reduce chances of
the wrench coming off and scratching the wheel), and spin the wrench.
Almost as fast as electric. And one less tool.
I talked to one guy in Birmingham who uses a $20 12v wrench from Northern.
It spun, then caught. The spinning inside the wrench without applying any
force to the nut let it break a fairly tight lug nut. Thus, he could break
the nuts free with the electric gun - an important point, and my
understanding is that with most of the sub-$100 wrenches you still have to
manually break the nuts loose. Sounded very cheap, though.

I want to purchase an electric impact to help change tires at the track.
Any advice from the collective?? I have a generator, so I can go either
110v model or the 12v model.
I would appreciate any info for anyone on either model.
thanks
