Yuri--
First of all, ignore that "max" tire pressure. It is more an optimum tire
pressure for everyday driving. It is a recommended pressure that *should*
give you even wear across the tread of the tire.
It is NOT a competition tire pressure.
Show up at the event with about 45-50 pounds in each tire. Pump them up at a
gas station close to the event. Then seek out someone else (experienced) in
a Honda or other FWD car and ask their advice on what to drop them to.
Buy a tire gauge -- it is one of the most basic tools in an autocrosser's
arsenal. If you decide you like this insanity and want to do more, you will
probably buy yourself a small air bubble (a canister into which you can pump
air under pressure, that you use to make small adjustments (increase) in
your tires.
Drop your pressures back to 35 before driving home! :-)
Be sure to tell them at registration you are a first timer. They may offer
(if not, ask for it) to have someone walk course with you, help you with
car setup, maybe ride with you on your runs. There will be so much to learn
it may be overwhelming. Just absorb what you can and don't worry about the
rest. It will come in time. As a first-timer you are not out there to beat
anyone. That comes later. You are just trying to figure out how this game is
played.
They'll help you class your car. Not sure if the suspension work you've done
on it makes yours a Street Prepared car or not. But maybe they have a Street
Tire class, or better, a Novice class. If so, go there.
Mostly, just have fun!
