Here's the deal. Bernie wanted to get F1 on a major net (he met that goal).
ABC paid about a half a mil to Speedvision (Speed owned the rights). ABC
still wants its imprint style you name it by having its own "talent" (I use
that word loosely in this case), so a no go on Hobbs, Posey, etc. World feed
is still the world feed, and a network can cut in their own local shots, too
(pit reports, in-car).

Here's the ugly part. Rumor is that ABC will/should get F1 for 2002. They
may sub-contract the non-USA events to Fox, ESPN, or the Speed Channel (?).
The future doesn't look that rosy. Right now the BBS at Speed's web site has
been taken down. Watch for other changes, too. The guy coming in to run
Speedvision (Speed Channel) has no real production background or a
motorsports background.

Sorry doesn't begin to convey some of the feelings. But life goes on.
