I think the story there is an SCCA version of urban fable as much as
anything. But FWIW, 30 years ago we did not have a president. We did not
have a Board of Directors. We had an
Executive Director and a Board of Governors. We were a MUCH smaller club
then.
(So why was our pro racing so much better then? But that's another topic!)
