>From the SCCA site. Even though I run Hoosiers, I'm sorry to see that Kumho
was unable to fulfill their expectations. I'm sure they had confidence in
delivery times when they went to the SCCA in April. Competition IS good.

MEMO
To: National Solo Participants
From: Howard Duncan, Rally/Solo Project Manager
Subject: Kumho Tire Eligibility
Date: August 1, 2001
Due to unanticipated delays in production, Kumho Tires has requested that
the previously issued eligibility allowance for the Kumho Ecsta V700 for
2001 National Solo competition be rescinded by the Solo Events Board (SEB).
Kumho has taken this action in order to be sure that it is in full
compliance with both the letter and spirit of the tires rules regarding
equal availability to all competitors. It is fully expected that the new
tire will become generally available in the early fall.
The SEB has met by conference call and has granted Kumho's request and
rescinded the eligibility of the tire for the remainder of the 2001 National
Solo season. The SEB wishes to commend Kumho Tires for making the SEB aware
of this situation and putting the best interests of all SCCA members and
fair competition first. The SEB expects to reinstate eligibility of the tire
by October 1. Kumho will be notifying their customers of this action.
The SEB, the SCCA and Kumho Tires apologizes for any inconvenience or
concern this has caused the membership.
