Although it's likely the problem's been solved, I have another suggestion.
Very similar symptoms happened on my Grand Cherokee years ago, hard to find
problem. But, it ended up being a crack in the insulation of the coil.
Moisture would build up, and it would either sputter or shut down. If it
was in the morning, I had to crank MANY times to start it, and it was only a
YEAR old.
