I agree with this wholehartedly. Personally, I like soloII and ProSolo.
I might like DSC as well, but given the constant slamming of soloII and
ProSolo I probably wouldn't try it. The impression I get right now is of
a little kid who took his ball and is off pouting in the corner.
I'm realizing that might not be all there is to it though as it sounds
like there's been a lot of work and effort into DSC at this point.
As an example of an alternate format that sounds fun, is different from
regular autox, and doesn't need to bash the SCCA all time, look at the
Mirror Khana stuff. IMHO they do a much better job of providing (maybe
"marketing" is a better word) a fun alternative.

(oh, and obviously the car is gonna be important. You'll want a car
that's consistent and easy to drive over everything else. SoloII
priorites are different. I also don't really have a problem with rookies
dnf'ing some their first times out. They're _rookies_. As long as the
learning curve isn't so steep that they quit (and I mean a lot, not just
the corvette/porche guy that thought he was a good driver and was proved
wrong), whatever.)
