Taurus repair advice anyone?

Hi all, no AutoX stuff to follow.

Three months ago the dome light on my wife's '97 Taurus would not go off.
Since I couldn't find a open-door sensor switch I just took the light out.
Tonight her floor lights woudn't go off so out they came too.

Any ideas? What senses the open door? If it's getting worse with time it
might be corrosion or moisture?
