In Friday's 50F temperature during an attempt to heatcycle Hoosier DOT
radials the tires never reached 105 degrees, would this constitute
heatcyling? On Sunday during an autox it was even cooler and the tires felt
only slightly warm to the touch after after several very hard runs. This was
my first time on the DOT Hoosier radials and it appeared very challenging to
drive the car. The Kuhmos seemed more forgiving than the Hoosiers in these
kind of cool conditions because the Kuhmo slip angle was more progressive up
until total loss of adhesion. Is it rule of thumb that the Hoosiers grip less
than the Kuhmos in cold conditions? How much tire temperature do the
Hoosiers need before they really start working? When the Hoosiers get up to
their working temperature will they have a more progressive slip angle to the
limit like the Kuhmos? Does anyone have experience running the Bias Hoosier
DOT? What temperature does the Bias Hoosier DOT need before they start
working well? Does a Bias Hoosier DOT offer a similar characteristic lazy
slip angle cushion of a slick?
Thanks in advance,
Kevin Wallace
