Hey all,
I was just sittin here thinkin about all this BSP stuff, and how dern much
fun this class is, and all the information being exchanged on this list, it
sure makes us feel good to see it grow from single digit entries at Nats to
what it is now! It makes us wanna come back and play! But we're not gonna.
YET;-)

Anyway, we kind of adhere to a strict policy of only endorsing stuff we
really believe in and the time has come to shout a few praises and the
people on this list will benefit most from this information (I think, don't
I?)

How many of you have stumbled around wondering about what direction to take
in building your hot rod? Listen closely.

There is a guy on this list that just flat Fu&%#ng knows how to make a car
accelerate, decelerate and go around corners as fast as possible! His Name
is Guy Ankeny of ANKENY RACING ENTERPRIZES and he is in the business of
doing just that and specializes in C4 plastic fantastic!

How do I know this? Well, we have experienced some frustration with racecars
at times and Guy has come to our aid with clear concise and calculated
determination for making our cars work!

Example:
In 1999 our ol yella wreck was showing signs of age and it was getting tough
for Nay to drive. Normally she is within a few tenths of me and the gap was
just getting bigger and bigger to the point where she was beginning to loose
confidence. And we all know the first step to walking on water is BELIEVING
you can! ;-)

Enter Guy Ankeny. Guy took our car and drove it at a couple events and got
whooped by a few people that we had been whooping regularly (sorry Guy) and
promptly pronounced it a POS!

Then he starts tellin me all this crap about shocks and how they make your
car consistant and yada yada yada. And how it needs to have real suspension
bushings in it and silly stuff like that. I'm goin like, "whatdya mean? Aint
nobody beatin me!?" Of course that was early 99 before Rita had her car
workin, and Jeff & Vic got it together and Fingerman was just some college
kid and Shelton was still floggin that dinosaur and Ankeny was still playin
with Miatas (BORING!!)

So I start thinkin, "man we're way ahead of the game already, what the heck,
we hadn't spent a dime on this car for 2 years and maybe this would help us
get ahead of the "comers", so to speak ;-)"

Long story made short, we pretty much clobbered everybody with that car from
then on! Oh. uhhh. cept that one rascal who was a touch faster in Toto land
;-)

Well a couple years later here we are again strugglin with a really
expensive car in another venue and can't quite figure out why. We even
thought it might be the driver :-0 !! Not that again :- (

Again enter Guy Ankeny. This time strictly as a chassis engineer or tuner.
We show up at a track I have familiarity with and Guy starts puttin me
through hell playin with the shocks of all things ;-) I keep screamin, "IT'S
LOOSE!" and he keeps tellin me he knows and he has a plan and quit whinnin
;-)

Finally after he has completed using me as a lab rat he starts to tune the
car where it works and we run huge fast laps with the car! Next race weekend
we accomplish something we never have before and that is to be faster than
the fastest Corvette in our venue by a substantial amount! We have never
done this before.

Other issues arose (104* fever, broken upper control arms etc.) that kept
us from obtaining the results we expected over the last 2 races, but we know
how much progress we made! It was because of Guy that we learned so much and
our hot rod was so fast. Keep yer eye on us, I have a feelin life will be a
touch better this year for us ;-)

The moral is, "SHOCKS ROCK" and so does Guy! He communicates well so you
understand what he is trying to accomplish, he is a standup guy beyond
reproach and backs up his word with unwavering commitment to excellence!

Which reminds me, someone mentioned their concern about getting hot rod
parts and advice from a competitor ;-) There is that concern with some
people I suppose, but besides the fact that this man couldn't bring himself
to mess with you to gain an advantage (I know it happens with others), he is
so damn cocky he really thinks he can beat you even if you have the same
equipment he does ;-)!! (jus kiddin. sorta ;-))

Just be careful about lettin him drive yer hot rod. Ask him about findin the
"ONLY" cone within 10 miles of a 2.15 mile road course!!
