I know it's not a Honda, and the cooling system is much simplier, but I had
a 1984 Mustang V6 that suddenly started severely overheating, at least it
appeared to.
I tried everything I could think of, but it seemed like there wasn't really
anything wrong. Actually, there wasn't anything wrong with the cooling
system. I discovered that the instrument panel voltage regulator was
malfunctioning and causing the guage to give a false reading.
If the thermostat doesn't solve the problem you might try to measure the
water temperature in the engine by alternate means and see if it really is
overheating.
