I might be making this up, but I seem to recall the Hoosier Radial having a
treadwear of zero at first, but it was subsequently changed to 40 - so
Corvette Club people could use them, as that club(maybe it was the ______
Club, a marque club) had a minimum treadwear rating of 40(?). Numbers and
specifics not guaranteed, but IIRC, a tire manufacturer simply changed
treadwear in order to accomodate a market in the past few years.
Could be making it up.
