Eric, I remember the day when the itty-bitty car drivers did EVERYTHING
in their power to discourage V8 vehicles from running autocrosses. And I
saw lots of Corvette-Camaro-Firebird-Mustang drivers walking away from
the sport in disgust.

My point is that a third of all the entries at Nationals meet the large
car description. Is this a good thing? You betcha!! I know that the roots
of autocross are firmly bedded in the history of Bugeye Sprites and MG
Midgets tooling around on tiny lots all across the country. Big HP and
torque folks were dismissed as "drag racers" or "roundy, round" types.
The fact that the big car folks are particiapting more is a GOOD thing.
More and more folks are seeing the value in running "big ol' 'murican
iron." I know, I used to be a Porsche guy and now I'm a Corvette guy.

It's a wonderful thing that SCCA isn't focused on the small sports car
market anymore. After all, SCCA didn't become much of anything until they
saw the light and invented the Trans Am and Can-Am series back in the
late 60s.

Oh and BTW, in the old days your car wouldn't be allowed to participate
in SCCA events because it isn't a pure "Sports Car."

That sounds like a challenge, Eric. I have yet to be beaten by a STR
Integra GSR in my 86 BSP Corvette. Wanna rumble? Better yet, wanna put
some dollars on it? I suspect some of the Vettes you beat weren't prepped
or driven to the maximum capability.
