My wife and her sister did an "Antique trip" down US-71 to Joplin Mo. Three
weeks ago. I ask her about it after reading your post. She said there was
little if any
construction north of Joplin Missouri.
If it was me I would come up US-71 to I-435 North. Go I-70 West until you see
670 west Topeka. This goes around the southside of the downtown loop.
It sounds worse than it is.
