The following is for people with F-bodies and Koni single adjustable
shocks
on the front of their car .
Koni Single adjustable front shocks for the 1993+ F-body come with
two spring perch positions, The upper one is the stock ride height.
>From the factory , I believe they come installed in the lower spring
perch position, which is not the stock ride height. In fact, Bob Noack
from Koni
related to me that if the shock is on the lower spring perch,
that this would lower the car by 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. What this also
does
is get you much more negative camber than a stock ride height F-body can
normally get (up to .5 or more degrees of additional negative camber,
which is a lot, considering from the factory you can only get about -.6
degrees).
Using the lower spring perch is clearly Illegal in Fstock. The reason
this
has come up is that a lot of competitors do not know about this (they
just buy the shocks and bring them to somewhere that installs them) and
it became a small issue among some local competitors (they did not know
this).
Note that DOUBLE adjustable Koni shocked cars DO NOT have an adjustable
perch
(there is only one way you can have em) so this doesn't apply.
This is a friendly note to all those F-bodies out there going to
nationals
in Fstock that are running Koni Single adjustable shocks up front,
make sure the spring perch used is the upper one. Someone might just
be looking at Nationals (and it is quite easy to see, you dont even
have to jack the car up to see).
