It has been one of those weeks. After reading Katie's travel log, it was an
additional reminder of what things matter.
One of the guys here at work passed away Tuesday, after battling cancer for
three or four years. He was 42. Young. When he first heard about his
disease,
he and his wife had just bought their first home. This guy always had a
smile
for everyone. The wake was this afternoon, and the place was almost empty
except for those working in the playbacks, who couldn't get away.
Recently, a follow op in my playback, told my that her father had a stroke,
and was not doing well.
She's dealing with those issues.
I take things for granted too often. Tammy. Our health. Her kids. Our
friends. Their families.
I forget to make the most of my days. I gotta remember try to do it. I need
to smile more.
If making the most of a day involves autocross, that can be a good day. If
it involves, taking a walk with your wife/husband/SO, etc., that's a good
day.
I'm almost a softie at heart. I just have to remind my self of that.

(and I think that was #275, but worth it)
Whoever posted Katie's post, could you forward this to her? TYIA. --M

Katie so eloquently spoke:
The strongest message I've gotten so far is that
communism is simply evil. It seemed as though the
Czech Republic recovered much more easily than some of
these parts, or maybe I was must much more limited in
what I saw, or maybe I was too young and idealistic to
really comprehend what had happened. The fact that so
many of us could allow ourselves to get emotional over
say, a protest over a shock perch height, and to allow
this of all things to ruin friendships is to me proof
that we really have it too good here. We can't even
appreciate what a gift it is to be able to race our
cars through parking lots. We act as if our rights are
being infringed upon because our cars are misclassed.
"Stop car bigotry!" we scream. Give me a break.
