I would highly recommend discounting this event as far as typical car
performance. As Gary said, it was basically a full out drag out, turn
around, and drag back. There was some car control of course, but I did
not have to lift on the way back, and I had enough time to glance at my
speedo..and I was crossing the finish at a very healthy speed. The major
choices on course for me was when to upshift, and the speed I entered
the turn around. Nothing else I felt I had much choice in.
It would have been a difficult event for any car that was paxed against
a higher horsepower car. I feel good about my CS win, since the Porsche
has more hp than I do, but I think I was peddling faster...or as Mike
said, a part of my anatomy was larger. :-)
One thing that was different about this event was the mindset I had of
going to fast thru the slalom. I tried everytime taking it full throttle
3rd gear. And if I was wrong, tap the breaks. The downside is you hit a
few cones, but when you manage to get lucky and squeak thru, your times
were very good.
But...now it's time for the challenge, and you are using an index that
was not set by a smooth, deliberate driving technique. Makes for more
cones in the challenges.
