And speaking as someone who knows, first hand, how the current classing
system works, let assure people that the current powers that be are as
straight-arrow as they get. Painfully fair.
George has one small good point, in that there is no progression from
S->SP-P, the main problem there being that P is based on road race rules
and so thus stands alone, rather than being part of a planned progression.
SM fixes that, so for a class of cars (all cars eligible for SM) that
statement is no longer true.
I'm looking for someone who wants to campaign a SM-prepared,
non-SM-eligible car, and who isn't afraid of a little work. That person
should contact me offline.

Ditto. Complaining is cheap. Solving is a whole lot harder. If you're going
to bitch (and especially if you're going to accuse the current leadership
of ill-doing) you'de better be packing a better proposal.
