Yes, you can be a pro at autocross. My car is currently fielded on 70%
sponsorships (I call myself an advertising executive). That car, slow
and uncompetitive, is worth $16000 if the advertising space is fully
used. When I am national champion ;) it will be worth at least $30,000 a
year and I will be able to afford a _real_ advertising agency to promote
it for me. If I did it myself and sold myself as an instructor two a
couple of schools then I could conceivably close this dump I call a shop.
If, somewhere along the way, I could garner a large corporate sponsor,
they may spring for up to $10,000 a season. Who knows. The money is out
there, it's just that so few of us know how to go out and get it. I'm
not the only one, but lots of people I know of would have access to some
pretty good money if they were to choose to market their racing properly.
